Not everything is hitting the player at once. "We wanted to make sure that we spaced those out. "What we did think very carefully about was when each new system came online for the player," says Beach. Wouldn't that be the same for other players? It seemed like a pretty straightforward answer, but in my mind, the addition of new systems Trade Routes, the World Congress, and Tourism make the game feel more complex. It would've been easy for us to just build on Civilization IV, but we really wanted to open up the audience. We try to approach each new iteration of the game with that same outlook." The game doesn't really get complex until the player is ready for it. They start a city, then they might have one or two choices. "When you start a new game, you have one settler and one warrior. "One thing that flows naturally with Civilization and making it easier for new players to pick up is the way that originally designed it," he adds. So we wanted the game to be as approachable as possible: whether you've been playing Civilization IV for the last four years or you're a player that's brand-new to the game, we wanted to make sure it was really easy." We were already doing a lot of new gameplay systems that would even be new for our hardcore fans, especially One Unit Per Tile, switching to hexes, all of those kinds of things. "It would've been easy for us to just build on Civilization IV, but we really wanted to open up the audience. "We spent a lot of time on the Civilization V vanilla game, keeping new players very much in mind," was Shirk's reply. Two expansions into Civilization V, I wondered: what was Firaxis doing to make it easy for new players to start on a game that was getting better with each iteration? So, I decide to get on the phone with Civilization V: Brave New World lead designer Ed Beach and Civilization senior producer Dennis Shirk to ask them that question. Every time I heard about a new system, even the task of just starting seemed daunting. That same aspiration was revived with Gods & Kings, but the follow-through never happened. When Civilization V came out, I had the aspiration of spending that same time with a brand-new game. Back when I had more time, I was an avid Civilization player, staying up late into the night making trades, conquering Civs, and advancing my tech tree.

I hope this continues to work until they patch this bug, and hopefully some of you reading will find this useful. Finally just a moment ago I found that when it freezes in "Choose Production" if I switch the view using the button in the bottom right of the screen just left of the mini map between strategic view and normal view it has kicked the game back on pace for me every time so far. Again When it would freeze at this choose production spot I would continue to go in and out of this city whose production I just changed and would change it back and forth and this would seem to kick it back into pace for awhile but again as I got farther into the game this didn't seem to work as well either. This Freeze up seems to be happening more as I get farther into the game probably because simply I have more cities and am choosing productions more often. These all seemed to work on my getting stuck issues except for the occasional " Choose Production " Hold up. At first I used to go to the help menu and just click a few buttons or so (sometimes as many as 30 lol) then I found some post that mentioned the "." button (the period button) and the Shift + Enter. Have found a few ways to get the game going again on my computer and figured maybe they would help someone else also.
